Uses:
➸ Staghorn sumac has been used for its high levels of vitamin C. Native Americans used it in teas to treat colds, fever and scurvy. They have also been used as a lemony spice in middle eastern cuisine. Sumac berries are often used to make a tart lemonade like drink. (Steep berries for 20 to 30 minutes then add sugar.)
➸ We use sumac berries in our beekeeping smoker. It makes a good smoke and doesn't just burn quickly.
➸ It can also be used as a natural dye and does not need a mordant.
➸ All herbal infusions, extracts, and loose-leaf herbs are organically grown on our small farm from seed, harvested, and made using traditional methods into the products posted here.
