Tomato Starts - Amish Paste
Description
- Introducing our Amish Paste Tomato plant starts! These heirloom plum tomatoes are a longtime favorite, known for their large size and excellent flavor. With slightly irregular plum to strawberry-shaped fruits averaging 8-12 oz, these meaty tomatoes are perfect for salads and processing. They ripen early, making them well-suited for our arid region with extreme heat in the summer
- When it comes to harvesting and storage, simply harvest the tomatoes when individual fruits give slightly under finger pressure, even if the shoulders haven't changed color yet. The days to maturity for these tomatoes range from 75-85 days.
- It's important to note that tomatoes require full sun, but in our region, once daily temperatures regularly exceed 90 degrees, they need afternoon shade to ensure proper ripening.
- You can pick up your plants at our property in South Tempe (by appointment only) or at the Uptown Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings from 8am to 1pm (orders due by 3pm Friday before the market). Happy gardening!
